I'm graduating and I will miss this place. Food servings were always good and served on paper plates which I LOVED. The service and people behind the counter were kind. I overall love the cozy vibes and home cooking feeling.

This is a no-nonsense kinda place. The food is good, and the price is cheap for Davis. They have daily specials, decent boba, and Thai ice tea. The staff is nice, I've never had a problem. For $10 or less, you'll be full on something tasty. I just got the Singapore Rice Noodles. My favorite. Plenty of bell pepper, onions, noodles, spices, char siu, and 3 to 4 shrimp. I'm not sure why there are so many bad reviews. You get more than you pay for here.

A rare gem that offers food and drinks at college kid prices! Food is good, especially for the price! Drinks come with boba and are only like $3!! Prices and value here can't be beat. I remember coming here when I went to UCD (around 2014-16). I'm so glad they're still around and I hope they stick around forever. Prices haven't really increased much since then, despite high inflation, which I think just goes to show that most other businesses are inflating their prices unnecessarily. Anyways, support the business and give them a try!

This was the first time that I've eaten at the Open Rice Kitchen, but I've heard from UCD students that the restaurant serves good and inexpensive Chinese food and drinks. We went there before noon and only had a couple of people before us. There's one line where you make your order, pay, take the number given to you for your table, so your food can be brought to you, and sit down. The young lady taking our order was friendly and efficient. I also appreciate that they have a tap and pay machine. The prices were inexpensive, especially in today's economy. I appreciate that prices are affordable for everyone, especially for the college students. Here's what we ordered: 1-$7.00-Beef Chow Fun 1-$5.00(?) Salt & Pepper Calamari (without jalapeños) 1-$2.50-Thai iced tea 1-$2.50-Original Black Tea Boba -The beef chow fun was a little oilier than what I'm used to, but it was flavorful and pretty good. -I enjoyed the calamari, but my family member thought it was a little too salty. -The Thai iced tea was tasty and on point. -The original black tea boba drink was thirst quenching. Unfortunately, some of the boba (tapioca pearls) tasted overcooked. The dining room was neat and clean and so were the bathrooms. We'll be back.
